Akbar Sher Khan
Akbar is a dual qualified lawyer in the US & UK and specialises in advising clients on commercial and corporate law. He is currently pursuing an MBA at Imperial College Business School and has a particular interest in supporting entrepreneurs with developing their ideas and ventures.
In addition to providing legal advice, he supports the firm with business development and is currently developing a legal boot camp for new founders and early stage startups. Akbar has a strong network within the UK-India corridor and assists SME clients in exploring business opportunities in emerging markets.
After graduating with a law degree with honours from Queen Mary, University of London and completing his LPC, he went on to sit the New York bar exam and qualified as a New York Attorney. He worked as a project lead for a global data communications company conducting commercial contract review.
From 2011 to 2015, Akbar moved to India and took on responsibility of his family business as COO, which included a franchise outlet of Indian Oil Corp, agriculture business and real estate development. Under his leadership, the business was successful in achieving considerable year-on-year growth.
He returned to the UK to pursue executive education at Imperial College Business School, and was awarded an academic scholarship. He was also appointed as a student ambassador for his MBA cohort. He successfully founded the India Business Club at the Business School to promote UK-India dialogue and host guest speaker events.
Akbar spent his early years growing up in India. He attended school at St Columbas’ School in New Delhi, which includes notable alumnus such as Bollywood film actor Shahrukh Khan. He comes from a family of renowned hockey players and played hockey at a national level himself. His grandfather and father both played for the Indian hockey team, winning gold medals in the Olympics and the world cup respectively.
